The American television drama series Sons of Anarchy is getting the video game treatment.
The violent FX biker family drama is set to be a "real" game for consoles according to series creator Kurt Sutter, rather than a browser-based title as originally planned.
"Yes, we definitely wanna do a real game. Console based. Not some slapcrap browser MP thing. It'll take awhile, but it's the right way to go."
Fox, FX and Sutter are committed to the project being realised, but details of the game are still in preliminary stages, with no story established at this time. Sutter did state that the game will appeal to "female gamers", as there is "nothing hotter than a girl with a controller in her hands."
Sutter also clarified to a fan that the Sons of Anarchy game will not resemble Telltale's recent point-and-click adventure and story-driven game, The Walking Dead. Sutter said he played the game but ultimately felt it was "rushed and a bit unsatisfying".
He also suggested the title would have benefited from help of The Walking Dead television show's executive producer, Glen Mazarra, and his "magic touch". Sutter has previously worked with Mazarra on FX's first hit drama television series, The Shield.
This isn't the first time a game has been based on one of Sutter's television creations. The Shield received the video game treatment on PS2 and PC in 2008 but the game adaption was critically panned and considered a failure. Hopefully the Sons of Anarchy adaption can live up to its license's name, just as recent television shows turned video games like The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones have and hope to achieve.
What do you think about a game based on the Sons of Anarchy television series?
