The death of Steve Jobs created quite the whirlwind, as MMGN members offered sympathies for the visionary founder of Apple.

abujaffer: Rest in peace. I feel bad whenever I hear someone die, but with Steve Jobs the only difference is I know what he looks like... it really changes your perspective
Ben: RIP Steve. There's no denying the influence he had on the world, regardless of your thoughts towards him. The iPod, iPhone and iPad standout of late, but there's also his work with Pixar, the Apple II and the fact that he developed the mainstream accessible computer, allowing everyone to get online and up with the digital revolution that wouldn't be the same if there was no Mac OS X.
Heller: Today is a sad day. Steve Jobs, love or hate Apple, has changed the world through his constant innovation in the technological space. He is without a doubt one of the most important figures in the history of technology, and will be missed by all. It's strange, I'm actually feeling really depressed. I always imagined meeting him one day.
RSOP: We should all wear turtle necks and jeans on this day every year.
Dblacksquish: Rest In Peace Steve Jobs. Easily one of the most hardworking and determined men ever to be seen. Everyone can learn from him. He wasn't done with the world just yet though, I think we'll be seeing Steve Jobs ideas and inventions for a long time to come
Sony's choice to include an Online Pass for all games prompted a number of interesting responses from MMGN members.
Leasha: I only buy pre owned games way way way after the games release.
It's usually one of those, b"Oh wow never got around to buying this and its only $17 pre owned, yeah I'll get it now". And yeah at that point, could be years later so really.. Unless its a major title most people have probably given up playing it online anyway?!
Sandallman: If i ever get a game preowned it is a year or two after release and at that point it would be a suprise if many people are playing online at all.
The Battlefield 3 beta has been a hot topic of discussion over the past few weeks, with developer Dice saying the final game would 'look, sound and play' better. But what do the gamers think?

LMA0: If the beta didn't came out the we would see a different reaction/post from the ppl who hate it. I just need a DeLorean n a flux compacitor and go back in time to tell EA not to release it or they will get alot of hipster gamers complaining lol.
Marge: they released a build of the game months old, of which has no actual testing value(since it is months old), and litter it with advertisment and constant reminder to buy the full game. It is not a beta, it is a demo, and a dissapointing one at that
PC classic Crysis finally came to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, although some gamers were cautious of the pricing, despite the game's visual appeal to some.
stygian_: *buys it off Steam on PC for $3.75*
Dicky: Damn this looks awesome on console. Besides using the updated CryEngine3 im sure they have added things and improved stuff. For me it plays a lot better than on PC.
Funnily, EA sued...EA. Does the publisher have grounds to sue?

q-Firzenion-p: I saw this in a mall about half a year ago. I thought that energy armor thing was an EA electronic arts booth and got all excited. when i got close to it i found out it was some stupid energy thing. :/
noobi: this sounds like a valid claim, especially since they both vested interests in sport based businesses, if they were in completely different industries it would probably be okay
Harry: the logos are NOT 'very very' similar. seems like two companies can't even have the same two letters in their logo or else the bigger one will chew up the smaller one. besides, look, it says 'energy armor' underneath it. GTFO EA.
FIFA 12 has scored goals with over 3 million global sales, but would it perform as well if there was better competition?
Puhm: If they had any serious competition they wouldn't get a fraction of these sales. 3.2 million consumers shafted, again. Well done, EA. You've got your cash now how about finishing development of the game?
Prime: I think the game is brilliant and IMO the best footballing game of all time. Competition or not this is an amazing football game.....something EA deserves to be congratulated on if you ask me.
punk: it took them this generation to get things right though but that was a lot of pressure from PES, so more competition the better! I mean fifa 98 and the few iterations after that were great but fifa during the ps2/xbox/gc days weren't that much of an improvement - seemed like they were going through the motions. Regarding the sales of fifa 12, that's a huge improvement! Wonder what PES sales are like...
Black Ops 2 might be on the way from Treyarch, but gamers don't seem happy.

Kenni: I didn't mind Black Ops but god, please make sure to fix the damn bullet registration!
Lekkers: People hate black ops because it's associated with Call of Duty. I say, "grow up" to those people...
maxiboy: Hopefully some new consoles will be announced next year so we can all relish in better graphics standards again. 2006/7 were the last big years of graphical leaps because the new consoles had just come out. Also dual core processors became affordable. It means forking out on an upgrade but its worth it.
With PSN developers preferring PSN over XBLA, members started quering Microsoft's strict submission rules for indie devs.
Harry: well the XBLA platform is hardly welcoming to new developers.. it severely restricts what they can do with their work in terms of distribution.
abujaffer: I think Microsoft has placed far too much emphasis on Live's popularity, and expected developers to come begging for their games to be brought to the system. Sony, on the other hand, is doing the opposite and encouraging/practically paying developers (not really) to develop game's for PSN. Nintendo is just doing... nothing, and expecting people to come.
With Dice keen on a Mirror's Edge sequel, the question is: do gamers want one?

Dicky: First title was a bore, had a poor and uninspired artistic direction and was just no fun to play at all plus the plot was appaling.
No matter what this WILL also flop.
Marge: I do agree that the plot sucked. I thought it was quite fun to play though. Certain times sucked like the train part but i thought the game felt really 'cool'. Example: Jump off a wall, slide down an elevator to jump off and kick down a guy ... all in one smexy motion
noobi: as long as you kept up your momentum the game felt great, the second you didn't know where to head next it came to a grinding halt which was unfortunately all too frequent, too much time spent running back and forth looking for the one ledge you had to jump onto, with regards combat I finished the game without even firing a shot(other than the one section where you had to) I would be interested in seeing what they would do with a sequ
Following the Battlefield 3 beta outcry, Heller asked the question: are gamers spoiled?
ZePpLiNs: If you look at Minecraft, that has been in Beta officially since December, and the community knows that some problems are there because they are. FPS Betas however are towards a different crowd. If MW3 had a beta, there would be a bunch of 11-year-olds whining about a minor feature that doesn't affect anyone that much/
sjt333: it would help if companies would stop using the term beta when they mean demo
Redean: To be honest I've never understood the gaming communities hate towards basically anything. In my honest opinion I have never played a truly 'bad' game, demo, beta or any other iteration of a game. Sure there have been games that have had game breaking glitches that sometimes disabled me from playing but I found with some patience I was able to wade into the core concept of the game, what truly makes the game fun. Gamers expect the world (sometimes more) of the industry and spend to much time fluffing around buzz words like 'graphics' and 'mechanics' and never really sit down to ACTUALLY PLAY THE GAME! Seriously what is wrong with gamers!? No dev will intentionally create a bad game, that just bad business!
With so many sports games out over the next few weeks, we asked gamers about what makes a good sports game?

Prime: To re-enact the boyhood dreams we all had. Most of us wanted to be stars at the sport we loved, most of us never managed it. This provides the fantasy.
1wiierdguy: When I was younger I would always create myself in my sports games. Nowadays I prefer to play with proper rosters rather than injecting a fantasy version of myself into the experience. The exception is Tiger Woods. I love that photo game face allows it to be really me out there on the course.
