AFL: Real Foxtel or Foxtel on Xbox 360?

Any AFL fans trying to decide between getting real Foxtel or Foxtel on Xbox 360?

I was going to go for 360, but now I'm not so sure.

It's basically $50 per month compared to $61 for real Foxtel, which includes a higher quality broadcast, more other channels and all 9 games live. One on 360 is delayed.

That's just SD though, but I'm a bit worried footy on 360 won't look great being streamed over the internet, and might be a bit choppy.

However, you might as well spend $71 for HD real Foxtel, without IQ. Then it's starting to get a bit more expensive.

Anyone else trying to decide?

Quality probably won't be as good, loading, if something happens to your xbox your stuffed.

I wasn't impressed with the quality over xbox for watching the rugby world cup, just wasn't smooth enough, so I would say go for $61 real Foxtel. How big is your TV though?

Streaming sport over the internet never works that well.

Not sure if it's worth getting HD though?

Hmm, if you had said 32" I would answer SD, and if you'd said 50+ HD would've been the answer. 42" could go either way I guess :/

Go foxtel don't waste your internets on streaming it.

I've got a standard box on my 42" in my room it goes alright but the TV in the lounge has HD and looks very nice.

Both are passable.

So HD is worth it?

I think it's only $10 more (not sure), and the bonus is there is currently no contract for HD sports.

I might just put up with SD since it's an extra $150 to get the HD box and then is $20 extra per month if you want IQ as well as HD. Starting to get expensive just to watch some footy, so I can probably deal with SD [Shifty]

But do you get free-to-air channels on SD? My apartment has a foxtel port by no normal TV antenna [Facepalm]

For someone like me that won't get much out of Foxtel other than the footy, the 360 version will suffice, is convenient, and the no-contracts bit is enticing.

I imagine they're aiming this at students and people in boarding houses at the like. I'll be getting it once the season starts.

I've got fox footy HD through austars $43 a month for 6 month deal.

The footy looks awesome I couldn't go back after watching it in virtual blu-ray quality, it looks phenomenal!

How so cheap? :E

They are currently also doing 1 month free + free 22" TV + free SD IQ installation, but I'm not sure there's much point getting SD IQ since it's still an extra $10 per month.

Decided to sign up to SD since I'm really only going to use it for foorty and can't justify spending the extra for HD now, especially since the box is pretty expensive.

Got first three months for $16 + free install.

Austar had the deal going around xmas time think it's finished now though

I was gonna go HD, but would have mad it $150 for install plus $10 for HD and $10 for IQ. Starting to get too much, so SD is good enough for me for now. Maybe I can harass a better deal when current contract runs out for next season.
