Foxtel's Showcase channel, is going to show this medieval series, I think next month. Looks interesting. Didn't know that Sean Bean's in it. Anyone heard of this series?
www.imdb.com/...
Seen the first ep. Pretty average. Interesting concept though, think medieval Spartacus.
I've watched all the episodes that have come out in the US. Definately starts off pretty slow but if you can make it through the first 4 episodes it does pick up. Seems to be building up quite alot of anticipation for a war so I'm expecting big things when it gets to that point.
SO GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD imo.
Wow. How times change. I love it now. My favourite show at the moment. It's so deep for a TV show, the story twists and turns, characters are interesting and it's just a good show all round. Bit upset with the lack of war scenes, like ep 9 they have a battle but only show the bodies. No armies are shown, only the leaders. But that's okay, because it is about the leaders, not the soldiers. Only 1 episode to go :(
I enjoyed Spartacus so I might pick this up then :)

for this season

man, must be a lot of development in that last episode given how much is left, unless of course it isn't like your usual tv series where mots old plotlines end after each season.

but yeah, i love how theres just so much going on. Dothraki are pretty cool, yet totally effed up at the same. The Khaleesi...to begin wtih i felt really sorry for her and liked her character, i still like her, but now her strength is really impressive, especially the dragon powers, the fact she's like immune to fire lol

which brings up another question that new girl the dwarf lanister had was pretty immune to heat as well...that's assuming she was lying and she isn't actually all that used to pain

either way, i'm loving the show.

My two favourites are the bastard son of Ned Stark and Ned Starks youngest daughter aya. the pointy end <3

I really love how realistic it tries to be with it's scene...if you get slashed with a sword, man you're slashed with a ****ing sword lol.

It's better than Spartacus. I thought it was going to be similar after the first 2 episodes, but it isn't. This is all about story. Spartacus aims for blood, sex and violence... this is story and violence. Can't get over how well made and told it is. Definitely recommended!

don't forget the sex, this still has sex. whore houses galore lol.
From what I can see its a fair bit more serious than Spartacus.

It is a very good TV show, the acting is rock solid, production value is high (I heard HBO was dropping 5mil per episode), and every episode leaves you wanting more. Season finale comes out on Monday.

I agree though, you really get the impression through the first 5 or so episodes that there is gonna be a HUGE war at some point and so far there has been very little action to speak of. They renewed it for another season and it is based on a number of books (I think) so who knows how they will end season 1.

There is apparently 7 books (5 are done I think?) and this season covers only the first book!!!

The Dothraki and the Wall plots are my favourites, just because so much hinges on their decisions and each is building up to something huge. I agree with the characters though, Arya's resilience is admirable and Jon Snow (?) is fantastic. All are very well acted.

Sad to see Ned go though. He was what glued the show together. Hopefully now that the plot is establish it can maintain what is supposedly an already strong following.

its based on the books, a song of fire and ice, the tv show was titled after the first book, 'A Game of Thrones'. There's a few more after that. 4-5 in total or something. Never read them myself, but unlike most adaptations, this is ultra true to the novels.

I kind of like how the large fights in episode 9 weren't shown, it keeps to the shows nature and atmosphere.
The sex was very prominent in eps 1-3. But now it's only used when it is necessary (with the midget being a lady's man, showing power etc). Minus the teaching the whores scene, that was long, and quite awkward lol.

I think they'll hold off on the war scenes for this season, maybe ep 1 next season will be more intense. Can't expect them to invest too much into a new show like this, it is quite risky and the show already has fantastic production value.

i think its spelt jonn snow, but yeah, i really love him and Arya. And man, i definitely agree about the plotlines, the wall and the dothraki are my two favourites. (including the khaleesi's background, i forget her family name)

i also have a sick curiosity for what the lanister siblings have been up to lol.

Arya's such a strong girl though, I always love it when the girl get in to the swords :P

i didnt expect to see ned go, i expected arya to get up and use the pointy end on geoffrey or the executioner first. the way it ended so silently with him being beheaded and arya crying being held, kinda left me with chills lol.

Can't wait for the Dothraki to get to kings landing hey lol.
Targlassian? Something like that. The blind man is one, now that is intriguing!

Edit: Targaryen

Curiosity? Lol. It took me 3 episodes to work out they were brother/sister. I thought he was King Robert's brother! Sick.

She reminds me of Hit Girl.

Sean Bean has had a week of woes. Probably don't read if you haven't seen the latest episode, as even though they have spoiler tags half way through the article the idiot gives away the spoiler in the first line:

latimesblogs.latimes.com/...
yeah i saw that already lol.
Ahahaha yeh it took me a while to figure out they were brother/sister too and then it hit me... Gross.
Poor little guy had to see it... and he probably knew more about what was happening more than we did lol. Haven't seen him in a few episodes actually.

yeah, i liked that guy. at the beginning i thought he was gnona be the main character lol.

and now i remember the wolves. I always thought the wolves were gonna be meant for something more. was so sad when one of them ran away and the other was killed, that leaves only like 4 or 5 of them. :(

disappoint with the lack of activity here <3
I started watching the show yesterday.
Just watched the finale and WOW was it amazing.

Parts of it were so depressing though, especially the stuff with Samsara (Or whatever her name is)
Not as huge as I expected, in fact nothing big really happened, but it did leave everything in a really interesting place.

I'm very excited for next season.
I just finished the finale then.

loved it.

I'd say some big things happened, but thats part of this shows attraction to me as well. It's huge scale and yet still in many areas is very low key.

i think you mean sansa?
Yeah, I'm bad with remembering their names :P

I think I might read the books, not sure whether to just read the first then watch the second season because I'd rather have the book spoiled than the TV show :P
given how accurate and true to the books the show is, I'd say its far more worth it to watch it.

unfortunately i spoiled some parts of the plot for myself by reading up about some of the books, to get an idea of future seasons. nothing to grand i spose, but i know a couple of future deaths and who will live and stuff.

Seriously? I'm the other way.

I've read the four books that have been released (5th comes out in July) so I can vouch for how faithful the adaptation has been. Even then there have been some things that have been downplayed in the show. For one, the direwolves were used a lot more in the first book than they have been in the first season.
The way the battle scenes were dealt with was also similar to the book. In the first book you don't really see the battles, just hear about them afterwards.

In the second season there are going to be some fights that they will have to show and they are pretty large so it will be interesting to see how they pull them off on a tv budget.
Amazing show! cant wait for season 2
