Lets discuss batteries

So many devices require batteries whether it be your controller, mouse/keyboard, Phone/iPods, portable gaming units etc.

But I feel batteries are still well under powered some of these devices can only get around 5 hours of full use then they need a recharge.

When or if do you think we will start to see some of these devices lasting days instead of hours, will we see it at all?

Also what's your most reliable item on batteries for run time?

Phone batteries have been getting worse and worse. My last phone wasn't that old and the battery lasted a week. This phone is lucky to last 2 days on standby.

the battery in the new phone will be heaps better than in the previous phone. its the amount of power the modern phones or devices use that reduces the battery life

Unless I completely drain it before charging I get barely 8 hours out of it.

Batteries are just physical things, the bigger they are the more power they have.
Devices get smaller and use more power, so the batteries run out faster. :(

Yes... No... Wait what?

In all seriousness the only things we have here that run on batteries are our smartphones and the controllers.

iPhone 4S has a much longer battery life compared to my old 3GS and Richies Samsung Galaxy Nexus seems to do alright- he has downloaded the app that kills background stuff from constantly running so he gets a day out of his phone before he needs to charge.
Saying that, both of us use our phones very little during the day. Most of our usage is done at night while sitting on the couch..
