Most people in my area dont like AFL that much because it's a 'Aussie game' but I'm from western Sydney which a majority of people are mostly pacific islanders, middle eastern, Sudanese and oriental.
But more Anglo-Celtic (white) Aussie in my area have more interest in AFL. I don't know if GWS is just gimmick to make more australian migrants get into AFL but not many people are really interested with the new team, they be just happy just Sydney Swans representing the whole Sydney.

It will sure be interesting to see how the crowds turn out when the season gets started. I think they'd be aiming at 10k a game, which would be terrible by AFL standards, but competitive with NRL and achievable compared to the Swans who get 30k plus each game.

Let's just hope for the AFL's sake they are doing it with a long term plan... I'm sure the Sydney-siders felt the same way when South Melbourne headed north, and look how that turned out, pretty well I think.

AFL has the advantage with its reputation, it is more family orientated. NRL is a man's sport, with filthy men doing horrible things off the field and playing a brutish sport. That's beside the point though, I don't think they will be going head to head, there is room for both if Sydney people actually began attending sporting events more... AFL's inclusion could be a positive for all sports in the area.

Aussies from the south have a different culture from the Aussies from the north. Same thing with Aussie rules n Rugby both have different cultures. Rugby League n Rugby Union also have different culture because mostly Union is played by higher class, rich while League is targeted for the blue collar, working class.

But your right rugby is a brutish sport but we Northerners are big brutes, me n my mate just play rugby just to injure someone, who can do the biggest hit, get into fights and try be the 1st person to get Sin binned. But Rugby is more fun playing it then watching it.

I know a fair few people that play rugby but half of this crap isn't considered 'Rugby' to go out there and try injure someone or get sin binned first just screams stupid. Unprofessional and unsportsmanlike I guess down here there's a greater respect for the opponent.

Yeah but at the end we shake hands, forgive and laugh about it. Playing rugby is the only time we can act stupid, releasing our stress and having fun doing it. My mates n I had many fights with each other while playing n we all joke about it, its just how we socialuse in west sydney and have a rep for being 'thugs' if u seen that SBS show 'Housos' well that show is base in Western Sydney suburbs.

Yeah I will do, I'll wait until closer to the start of round one as last year we had a few non tippers.

Hmmm i went with 4 rookie rucks lol. Might get rid of mundy and bring in a real ruckmen.

I got lake, grimes, riewoldt & zaharakis as my 4 risks.

i have no doubt that zahakaris will become a premium this year.

He averaged 105+ in the 2nd half of last year playing as a mid.

Lake & Grimes injury free will be 95+ easy. Nick riewoldt same.

Lake & Grimes are too cheap to pass up when they are having great pre seasons.
